I live nearby Narita Airport and I remember the day that this crash happened. I was going to jump in the car and go take a look but I decided not to...Too ghoulish...This airport gets some really nasty winds coming in from the coast, and it's not uncommon to see jets struggling to keep their line as they come in. Also this area is notorious for low lying fog in the morning. I worked at the airport for a few years too and I saw a few very dodgy almost disasterous landings there...Once when a Northwest 747 came in hard and blew all its tires. The main grear immediately caught fire and this thing was still moving very fast down the ¥runway with a huge plume of smoke and flame coming out behind it...Very dramatic from my almost perfect vantage point near the runway...

And then Qantas 32 almost crashed because an engine exploded and a bunch of the metal pieces ripped into the fuel tanks in the left wing. Womp womp

Patrick and Seamus were flying from the UK to the US. After an hour, the captain announced, that one of the engines had failed, don't worry he said, the aircraft can fly safely on 3 engines, however it will add another hour to the flight. a bit later he said, that another had failed, but 2 engines are perfectly safe, but it will add another hour to the flight, a few minutes later he announce that a third engine had failed, no problem, but it will delay the flight for another hour. Patrick said, I hope the 4th engine is OK, or we will be up here all night.
